For years, MABA has been focusing on promoting mindfulness training based on the Buddhist principles. MABA has now consolidated its teaching and training experience and is going to launch a mindfulness training program systematically that emphasizes the balance of doctrinal learning and practice of mindfulness starting Spring 2022.
The first four terms of the Mindfulness and Dharma Training Program for 2022-2023 are as follows:
1. Spring 2022 (March-June)
Courses offered: Establishing A Moral Foundation & Mindfulness of the Body, Four Noble Truths, History of Indian Buddhism, History of the Buddha and His Great Disciples. In-person 4-day retreat at the end of the term.
2. To be announced
Courses offered: Right Effort (of Restraining Unwholesomeness), Mindfulness of the Feeling, History of Theravada – the Seven Fundamental Matters and Selected Suttas, Right Effort (of Cultivating and Maintaining Wholesomeness), Mindfulness of the Mind. In-person 7-day retreat at the end of the term.
3. To be announced
Courses offered: Mindfulness of Mental Phenomena, History of Early Mahayana, Brahma-Vihara & 37 Prerequisites to Enlightenment, Brief Introduction of Mahayana Sutras (Heart Sutra and Diamond Sutra). In-person 4-day retreat at the end of the term.
4. To be announced
Courses offered: Chan Meditation of Mahayana Tradition (Signlessness, Transcendence), Contemporary Applications of Mindfulness: 1) Mental Well-being and Psychology, 2) Social Welfare and Healthcare. In-person 7-day retreat at the end of the term.
* A certificate will be conferred by MABA to the students who have successfully completed the four terms consecutively.
